Breast Cancer Angels assists with emergency housing costs. We assist with monthly (up to $500 per month) housing costs for women in treatment for metastatic breast cancer and women struggling to complete treatment so they can return to work.
Breast Cancer Angels provides gift cards to local stores for the needs of children in the home. We do this throughout the year with more spent in the fall, for school supplies, clothes and shoes and at Christmas, for toys and other gifts.
Jerry & Patti Walsh established a Second Opinion Fund with us, in memory of their daughter, Dayna. We have assisted many women in getting an expert second opinion, which improves their chance of survival.
Our annual expenditure on client needs is now over $400,000. Monthly we assist at least 50 women who are long term clients and another 45 to 60 women who need our assistance on an emergency basis. Each year at least 14 of the women we are assisting lose their battle. We continue to assist even when hospice is called in.
We provide gas cards or bus passes to help our women get to treatments.
Each year we have a Holiday Party, at Boomer’s Amusement Park in Fountain Valley, for our clients and their families. All of the families attending go home with a trunk full of gifts. We have our volunteer Santa & Mrs. Claus come and hand out gifts to the children, and the moms get to visit with each other and work on a Christmas craft. All of the kids get wristbands and tokens so they can have fun and just be kids. In 2013 we had over 190 people participate.
Breast Cancer Angels helps to address the ancillary needs of those who are currently in treatment for breast cancer. We help to provide people with food, supplies, gas, other day-to-day items, pro-bono legal services, and much more.
